Prep for the Design Portfolio Review

This program will help you:

  • Determine which companies are the best match for you based on your interests and portfolio

  • Understand the sign-up process for individual portfolio reviews

  • Identify the best ways to present your work to reviewers

  • Gain tips and advice on how to greet and introduce yourself professionally

  • Make the most of the Networking and Recruiting Day events

  • Give you a chance to ask your specific questions

Need a quick look at your resume or cover letter? Want a brief critique of your completed portfolio sample or LinkedIn profile? Seeking advice on how to jump-start your job or internship search? RISD Careers is hosting "drop-ins ", 15-20 minute appointments on a first-come-first-served basis. No appointment or sign up necessary.

How do illustrators channel their creative abilities as story tellers into the high tech marketplace and publishing world? Join us to hear Jen and Sasha exchange stories about how their passions and interests as RISD students led them to their current creative roles and projects. They'll also discuss key skills and portfolio work that are needed to pursue opportunities in these areas.

A human centered approach to design that is guided by empathy and consideration of multiple users can lead to remarkable outcomes. Panelists that represent several design markets will talk about their current work, meaningful experiences that have informed their approach to design and advice they have for students about developing a portfolio that can speak to the evolving design market.

Please join RISD graduates Carlos Gamez MAR/13, Taylor Haywood MAR/15, Matthew Solomon BAR/15, and Christopher McIntire BFA/91, Architectural Designers at Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA), as they discuss their career paths from RISD to RAMSA, current projects, and opportunities at the firm.

 

Carlos, Taylor, Matthew, and Christopher are available to chat after their presentation on Monday, review portfolios, and answer any questions as to how to present your portfolio for consideration at RAMSA.  They are also available to schedule additional interviews for Recruiting Day on March 9th.
